Well it’s here. A new school year has begun and as we’re settling into our new roles I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you. I saw the way you stood there a little nervous and probably more than a little overwhelmed by the number of parents and children in the room each anxiously awaiting for their time with you. While I waited for my turn I looked around the room at all of your hard work. The organized bins of blocks and letters. The books overwhelming the shelves along the wall. As I ran my fingers over my daughters name on her assigned seat I couldn’t help but wonder how much time and money, more than likely your own money, was spent putting together this beautiful an environment. The fact that teachers are severely underpaid and over worked is not lost on me. Either is the fact that teachers invest good portion of their own income on their classroom and their students.
So here is my promise to you teacher. I promise to not complain about the way school supply list have grown this year. I promise to be there supporting you at the PTA meetings and using my vote to voice support for you in upcoming elections. I promise to volunteer my time and talents to the classroom. I promise to sit down with my child each night and reinforce your work as we go through homework – just try to be patient with me as we limp across that finish line come June. Last but not least, I promise to support you in all the little easy ways that get over looked during the course of the year.
Which is why I have nominated you, and our school, for The Tyson Project A+ ™ program. I see the way our school and our teachers come together to make our school a good place to learn and grow. I know the time you have spent this summer learning new materials, new methods of teaching (and learning) and implementing new programs for success in our school system. I see the way you all work together, and stick together, in this tough task of teaching our children. Which is why you more than deserve to be nominated.
