A child’s bedroom can be a really magical place, and a space where they love spending time. One of the biggest challenges is to make somewhere that they can chill out in and sleep well in. From memory foam mattresses to a secret den, here are some ways you can create a snug, special space for your kids:
Don’t skimp on the bed
When it comes to snugness, the bed is the most important part of the room. Even if you don’t have the money for a new bed, a mattress and decent bedding can make all the difference. A lumpy mattress or one with worn-out springs is not only uncomfortable but can be dangerous. A memory foam mattress or something similar is a good investment and could help your child to get a better night’s sleep. Feather-down duvets and pillows will make the bed feel more luxurious, too. You can also go for quality cotton bedspreads that are soft and will be gentle on your child’s skin.
Deck the room out with cushions and beanbags
To make a bedroom really cozy include places where your child can sit and read or just relax. Instead of a standard chair, consider large floor cushions and beanbags. By scattering a few of these on the floor you can create a space where your child can spread out and relax. It will be a nice place for them to chill when reading or playing, and for them to hang out with friends. Have bookshelves and the toy chest in reach so they can access their favorite things.
Create a secret den
Most kids love to have a special place that they can retreat. You can create a secret den in your child’s bedroom simply by hanging a cloth tent or putting up a Wendy house. Involve your child in decorating the space so that it will feel truly special. Perhaps they’ll want to turn it into a princess tent with fairy lights and flowers, or a top secret lab with a ‘Keep Out’ sign and password to enter. By letting your child’s imagination roam free you can encourage them to feel happy and safe in their bedroom.
Make it warm
It’s also about b warmth, especially during winter. Consider hanging thick curtains and adding rugs, especially if the bedroom has a bare wood floor. You can also buy simple things such as a hot water bottle to make the bedroom even more inviting on those cold winter nights.
Creating a snug bedroom for your child doesn’t have to cost much but can make all the difference. By getting them involved in decorating you can also make the process fun and exciting.
