Party planning on a budget
There never seems to be a season when there isn’t a party. Whether it’s for Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, a birthday, or a work promotion…it can get a little exhausting, and not to mention expensive. Many families may even avoid the party season all together just to stay away from the seemingly unavoidable costs of hosting. Unfortunately, this also means they also miss out on all of the fun! It is completely possible to host a party without breaking the bank. By making a few key investments, your party expenditure can be dramatically reduced leaving you to enjoy the party without having to worry about the bill at the end! Statement pieces When gathering together friends and family, you want to make sure your home looks its best without having to spend lots of money to do so. Investing in a few key statement items, you can transform yourself into party central, and never compromise on quality.
For parties during the summer, guests don’t want to be filing in and out of the house for drinks if the party is based outside. This personalized galvanized beverage tub is perfect for outdoor events as you can fill it with cold water or ice to keep drinks fresh in the summer sun. When you aren’t using it to keep your drinks cool, it makes a gorgeous planter or toy box for your kids. Glassware A guest can tell a lot by the kind of glassware their drink is served in. Cocktail glasses are great for any kind of party, and can make even the most basic drink seem fancy. You might think a good set of cocktail glasses would cost a lot of money, but that isn’t necessarily the case. This Libbey 7 Piece Sangria Set is a great price (only $19.99) and looks remarkably more expensive than it actually is. The poco grande shaped glasses are absolutely essential for serving authentic tropical drinks. This set is useful for obvious drinking reasons during a party, but there’s no reason it can’t be used for decoration when you’re not hosting a party as well. The serving pitcher would make a beautiful flower vase year round. This set of Riedel Vivant Martini glasses are also very reasonably priced appear to be well made. The shape of the glass helps make sure the drink doesn’t spill, whilst the stem ensures the drink remains at the optimum temperature. (Pinky OUT folks!) Food Whilst canapés and the like are best prepared in the kitchen, there’s no reason for you to spend the entire party on your own cooking! It’s always nice to prepare food for your guests, if only to ensure that the alcohol is soaked up by something! Investing in a BBQ may seem like a lot of money, but you don’t need to buy one of the most expensive pieces available. Moreover, investing in a long-lasting BBQ rather than buying disposables year after year will save you a significant amount of money in the long run. We actually use our BBQ AT LEAST 5 times a week to make dinner on and is easily our most used “appliance”. For the old-school and the die hard grill masters, this Char-Broil deluxe charcoal grill is extremely affordable and looks great to boot! Although I haven’t personally used this model, from the reviews it seems to be easy to use and big enough to hold the amount of food needed for a party ,whilst small enough to be tucked away come winter. BBQs are great for all kinds of cooking; whether you’re just looking to cook some meat, host a big party or take a dinner party outdoors, your BBQ is what you make of it and can be used for lots of different events. Lighting Whether you’re hosting a house party or a garden party, there are always going to be guests outside. When the night falls and the garden becomes darker, you want to ensure they can see where they are going rather than tripping around in the dark!
While I love the look of criss crossing ropes of light bulbs across the yard, not everyone has the perfect setup to accomplish this. Not only can these cream mosaic garden torches from Home Wet Bar can be used by anyone, but they will probably get you plenty of compliments as well! The lighting is soft without being dull, while the design of the torches looks good day or night. They’re also durable, so they’ll last you all year around!
