Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta

Sometimes life is the only thing getting in the way of a great relationship. Between a baby sitter, gas and the cost of the date itself date-night can get pretty expensive. To save money (and time!) we send the kids off to grandma and grandpas to steal a leisurely date night in. More than saving money, with no distractions, we find date night more enjoyable spent in. Plus, we can talk through the movie without being hushed.

One of my favorite date night activities is cooking together. It gives us a chance to just talk without pressure and it brings out some of my favorite qualities in my husband. From the playful way he is constantly stealing food as I cook to the way his daring palette makes my dishes better. I love whipping up this Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta Recipe together. It only takes 25 minutes to make and it gets RAVE reviews, at 5 stars with over 1300 reviews and ratings.

*TIP* It may sound cheesy, but do take the time to bring out candles and actually sit down at the dinner table together. The gesture doesn’t go unappreciated by either of your senses and sitting down together with no distractions can be a rarity in a house with children.

Draw dinner out with a glass of wine on the porch, or if you’re lucky enough to live someplace scenic take a stroll. Both activities produce feel good endorphins. Bonus, they also stimulate conversation. We like to wrap up the night one of two ways. If we’re tired (admittedly, we usually are) we like to cuddle on the sofa with a good movie.

But on nights we’re feeling up to it, we prefer to get competitive. Whether it’s a classic board games like Monopoly (because nothing says I love you like bankrupting the husband), battling it out on the Kinect, or some online gaming – you can try It’s fun to compete against each other and the winner gets to demand a reward – foot rub anyone?!
