I know I’m not the only one who can say this but A Christmas Story is my all-time number one favorite Christmas movie. Ever. I plan on showing it to my son over and over again until it’s his favorite too :) Can you believe I had never even seen the film til I was a junior in high school?!??! Yeah. I led a deprived childhood.
Did you know that there is a sequel? A Christmas Story 2 continues five years later with Ralphie, Randy, mom and the Old Man. This time, Ralphie has his eyes fixed on a car. But trouble is sure to follow, of course.
I actually had no clue that there was a sequel due to come out on October 30th, but am really happy there is! I’m putting it on my Christmas wishlist right now. And as long as we’re being factual here, if you just can’t get enough of Ralphie and his crazy family, did you know that there are actually 7 movies in total about Jean Shepherd’s family (say WHAT!??!). The other 6 are:
- 1976 – The Phantom of the Open Hearth
- 1982 – The Great American Fourth of July and Other Disasters
- 1983 – The Star-Crossed Romance of Josephine Cosnowski
- 1983 – A Christmas Story
- 1988 – Ollie Hopnoodle’s Haven of Bliss
- 1994 – My Summer Story

first, The Christmas Story is my ALL time favorite movie! It never gets old! I have a lot of favorite parts… I love when Randy (Ralphie’s little brother) is eat meatloaf and making the pig sounds, and the ‘Fragile’ box gets delivered. hahaha i love that movie!!
