Look out, don’t mistake Frankenweenie for a zombie! This October when ghosts, zombies, devils and other frightening creatures roam the streets, Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie will come to life in theaters! Watch the new trailer and you’ll see Frankenweenie doesn’t look scary but rather frighteningly funny.
How could the story of a boy and his dog be scary you ask? Introduce them to creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”), throw in a science experiment that goes awry and there could be some monstrous consequences.
When Victor’s dog Sparky dies, his mother attempts to comfort him with the reminder “He’ll always be in your heart.” But that’s not enough for young Victor, so he uses what he’s learned from school and harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. Sparky’s new “leash on life” is supposed to be a secret, but when Sparky gets out, the entire town experiences some unexpected consequences.
As you can see from the new trailer, “something big is going to happen,” you might even say its electrifying!
A stop-motion animated film, Frankenweenie was filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, transforming the classic style to a whole new experience. The talented voice cast includes: Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder. Burton has previously worked with four of the actors: Winona Ryder (“Beetlejuice,” “Edward Scissorhands”), Catherine O’Hara (“Beetlejuice,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas”), Martin Short (“Mars Attacks!”) and Martin Landau (“Ed Wood,” Sleepy Hollow”.
