I really like when my girls can identify with characters that are strong and empowering. It seems that kids can be faced with really tough situations even at young ages now. Kids seem to be so much tougher on other kids now then I ever remember when I was growing up.
This is one of the many reasons why I am so excited about Nickelodeon launching a new Winx Club Deluxe toy doll line in Walmart stores and Walmart.com. If you have not heard of Winx, it is a great show going into its 5th season on Nickelodeon. The show is based on 6 fairies, Bloom being the leader, with her friends Stella, Flora, Tecna, Musa, and Aisha. These fairies experience a lot of adventures together battling darkness and unlocking secrets and powers.
Each fairy has a very distinct personality of its own, allowing them to be easily identifiable with little girls. For instance, Tecna is very computer savvy and logical, but has a hard time expressing her emotions; however she is very nice and caring. On the other hand, Musa, who has a passion for music, is the most emotionally vulnerable, but likes to put up a tough front. Then there is Bloom, the shows main character, who can be impatient, impulsive, stubborn and short-tempered but has a heart of gold. She would do anything to help a friend or fight for a good cause.
These characters can be very empowering for little girls since they can show how strength of character and tenacity can get them out of some really tough situations. You can get more information on all of these dolls and even watch videos of them by visiting the Winx Club Deluxe Walmart.com page. You can also see them in person at your local Walmart, where they also have toy sets, DVDs, and apparel for the Winx Club.
