I have one word for the Walt Disney Animal Kingdom Wild Africa Trek – stunning. Wow. Just Wow.

I’m an adventure junkie and I LOVE animals. This experience combines the both into the most awesome, unforgettable experience EH-VER. This is as close as most of us will ever get to going on a *real* African Safari and I say it’s a definite must add to you and your family’s bucket list.

The Wild Africa Trek is a jaw-dropping journey few people get to experience. We journeyed deep into the Pangani Forest on a 3 hour long privately guided expedition. It was like being on an African Safari where we got within feet of so many different animals in their native habitats.

We started off on foot through a few paths and came to a spot where we needed to be tethered in. This was so we could get right up to the very edge of a cliff where we were standing just above

this hippopotamus (who wanted to show me his teeth!). After learning a bit about them, we walked around to my favorite part of the adventure -

the wooden footbridges high up in the tree canopies, overlooking the hippos and the

dozens of Nile Crocodiles prowling the riverbed below. The height and instability of the bridges gave some of the others a fright,

but not me. I was totally loving it!

And just when we had arrived safely on the ground on the other side of these two massive wooden bridges,

we faced another close encounter…

the Crocodiles again! As our knowledgeable guide gave us a short and very interesting lesson, we

took some great shots, and some of us even felt comfortable enough to hang 5 off the edge :)

Next up, was a safari ride through the African Savannah.

There are no cages here, as the vehicle drives through open wilderness and you get a chance to get up close and personal with everything from

Rhinoceros, Gazelle, Giraffe, Ostrich, Elephant, Flamingo, and Lions!

Not only did we get to tour Africa, but we also got to try some pretty amazing African inspired foods

that you are not able to buy/experience anywhere else in the park! I wasn’t quite sure what I was expecting food-wise, but it certainly wasn’t this. The meal was delicious and so enjoyable in the picturesque outdoor seating area.

The timing was just perfect and we were able to watch a beautiful Savannah Sunset as we finished our meals.

With one final group photo,

I think it’s pretty safe to say that we were ALL pretty disappointed our amazing adventure had come to an end. Luckily, along our journey a professional photographer cataloged every moment and we had a complimentary photo cd to look forward to receiving in a couple weeks.

Disney‘s Animal Kingdom Wild Africa Trek is completely worth every single cent. It will be a memory that you or your kids will never forget – I promise!

Now thru August 25th, they are even offering a special discount of $50 off, so if you’re headed to Walt Disney World this summer, you have no excuse not to experience it for yourself!

A million thank you’s to Disney for covering my expenses and treating me to this truly amazing adventure!
