DreamWorks Pictures’ “War Horse,” director Steven Spielberg’s epic adventure, is a tale of loyalty, hope and tenacity set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War.
I had the pleasure of attending this Red Carpet Premiere last Sunday, December 4, 2011. Held at The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts, it was definitely the nicest party I’ve been to in a long time – complete with black ties, arugula salad, red wine and chocolate mousse.
While I didn’t personally get to speak with any of the cast members at the party, a couple of my bloggy friends did – namely, Steven Spielberg. (so jealous!!! must have been while I was going to the loo!)
And even though I had to go through a bit of an adventure to get there, I can tell you that all that excitement and the blisters on my feet were well worth it! Not only were we treated to Steven Spielberg personally introducing both the movie and the cast members prior to the screening (we were in the 4th row so he was about 15 feet in front of us!), but the movie itself, War Horse, was just absolutely stunning.
Not having read the book, I had no idea what to expect from this movie. Although I can’t say too much just yet, I can tell you that I got lost in the cinematography and the characters absolutely captured my mind and heart.
Definitely make plans to see War Horse when it opens on Christmas Day. This isn’t just a story about a horse. Be prepared to be engaged. Be prepared to be moved. (and you might want to bring a tissue)
