Universal Studios Hollywood “Cele-Who-brates” 18 Snow-Filled Days of “Grinchmas”
and Holidays at “5 Towers” on CityWalk Enchants with Nightly Tree Lightings,
Free Concert Performances and New Holiday Lights Spectacular

If you live in Los Angeles and are looking for fun activities to get in the holiday spirit Universal Studios has you covered. The spirit of the holidays will transform Universal CityWalk now through December 31, as the new high-tech, outdoor concert arena, “5 Towers” comes alive with the sights and sounds of cheerful holiday music, choreographed in unison to hundreds of thousands of twinkling LED lights illuminating the venue.

Visitors will be fascinated by the “5 Towers” Light Show Spectacular which consists of five soaring 42 ft. light tower sculptures that alternate between pulsing snow white strobe lights and giant twirling red and white colored candy canes, to ice blue glowing light pillars and a flashing white snow fall.  The Light Show Spectacular occurs daily every 20 minutes from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Come enjoy nightly tree-lightings at the enormous 40 ft. tall Christmas tree, shining brightly with 100,000 LED lights, and enjoy the wildly over-the-top and completely captivating multimedia holiday light show. A rock–n-roll Santa will make frequent appearances, along with free concert performances, DJ appearances and a diverse group of talented street performers making the Universal CityWalk a must-see L.A. holiday destination.

On Friday, Saturday and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., get your picture taken with CityWalk’s rock-n-roll Santa Claus under the 40 ft. Christmas tree in his customized “rock star” sleigh, elaborately decorated with moving lights and packed with an assortment of musical instruments.  An authentic Gibson guitar will be on hand for guests who wish to create a memorable holiday rock-n-roll photo. Sounds like an awesome family outing and an opportunity to get some unique photos with the kids and Santa, wish I lived in L.A.

On December 10 and 11 and continuing daily from December 17 through January 1, 2012, a very, merry “Grinchmas”TM returns to Universal Studios Hollywood as the theme park rings in a jolly Who-liday season with the Grinch, his loyal dog Max, tons of fresh snow and nightly celebrity readings of the Dr. Seuss classic, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.”

There will be a  60 ft curving “Grinchmas” tree that will tower above the center of a snow-covered winter wonderland. Each night the tree will be lit in a festive ceremony that features the colorfully costumed Who-ville choir caroling and spreading holiday cheer. The Grinch and Max will star with the Whos in enchanting Who-bilation performances.

During  “Grinchmas,” the Grinch, Max and the Who-ville Whos will be circulating so fans can meet them and pose for keepsake holiday photos. Your family can have lots of  traditional winter fun, playing together in a playground of real snow, made fresh daily, and building your own Southern Californian snowmen. This so cool, you can play in the snow without the hassle of a storm or the clean-up.

You can also take a behind-the-scenes Studio Tour during “Grinchmas” to get a close-up view of the original Who-ville film sets, featured in the “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” movie.  While on the tour visitors are treated to a one-of-a-kind performance by a Whos Who of Who-ville re-enacting favorite scenes and songs from the film.

“Grinchmas” is included in the price of theme park admission. More information, including updates on the “Grinchmas” celebrity readings, are available at
