You will wrap that sweet little baby with the smushy face up in a blanket nice and tight so they are comforted as if they were still in your womb. You will lay them down somewhere safe so you can go to the bathroom and take a minute to pee. When you return, that sweet baby is still right where you left them, sleeping peacefully. Stop for a moment, look at them, listen to them breathe; take a picture or a video. It will never get better than this.
They will cry. They will crawl behind you. They will walk behind you. They will beat on the door screaming “Mom!!!” They will even just open the door and walk right in. They’ll move out and call you on the phone. If you don’t answer because you are going pee they will keep hanging up and calling back over and over until you finally do answer!
Having a baby means you give up the right to ever pee in peace.
The first day home is the last day you will ever get to pee uninterrupted again.
**Note: the same can be said for talking on the phone or holding a conversation with your spouse! Not a child in sight until the phone rings, and then they are all over you trying to climb back into the womb just to get your attention!
