Ok, so remember all that research I’ve been doing for our house renovation? Even though we are doing a complete remodel, we are trying to keep to the beachy cottage look as much as possible and decided that we really liked and wanted an “apron front” or “farmhouse” sink for the kitchen. Unfortunately, the kitchen is teeny tiny so we couldn’t really go with the full sized 36″ sink, which seems to be the norm. I found a beautiful, clean 30″ London Single Bowl Farm Sink by Porcher on their website but was *floored* by the Estimated List Price of $1,295 – $1,555!!

I spent the better part of a day searching for a better price – there just HAD to be one because this Crazy Mommy isn’t THAT crazy! I was able to find lots of places that sold it for much, much less, however only a few I actually felt I would be comfortable making such a large and delicate purchase from. While price definitely plays a huge factor in making a choice to shop somewhere, peace of mind and quality of service as well as trust in case any thing goes awry is also just as important to me!

After finding several low price options, I finally decided on PlumberSurplus.com, mostly influenced initially by the large number of positive reviews from previous customers. They have an awesome selection of just about everything you need for your home – from Kitchen Sinks to Bathtubs to Bathroom Faucets and more. They carry all the name brands you know and trust like Porcher, Moen, Delta and American Standard just to name a few!

I found the sink I wanted, the 30″ Porcher London Single Bowl Farm Sink for only $643.55 (plus shipping and tax because I’m in CA). Now, this wasn’t the cheapest price I found online, but of the top 3 sites that I felt comfortable ordering from – it was the best price :)

What are some of the factors that made me choose them?

The site is very easy to navigate. You can choose to browse by brand or by category.
As if their already great prices aren’t enough, they also offer Free Ground Shipping on over 40,000 items (wow!) and also charge NO SALES TAX outside California! (Boo for me, but great for many of you out there! That’s a big savings!)
They conveniently accept all the major credit cards (Amex, Mastercard, Visa and Discover) and even Paypal too! This is a huge help if you are trying to maximize any credit card advantage points (like reward miles and such).
Their phone number is prominently listed on every page right at the very top. I am always wary of sites that “hide” their contact info and make you go digging to try to contact them! PlumberSurplus.com gives you lots of options to get in touch with them, including live chat, very readily available.
They have a great Learning Center resource filled with Buying Guides, How To Guides, Videos and Definitions. They aren’t just a store – they want to make sure you are educated and make informed decisions about your purchase as well as help you to DIY too, if possible!

I ordered my sink on Friday, July 2 and received shipment notice on Thursday, July 8 with actual delivery on Monday, July 12th. It was a freight delivery, meaning that it was delivered in person by a company. We were given the chance to fully inspect the sink to make sure there was no damage prior to signing for it. I was pleased by this process and everything went as expected with no hiccups!

As you can see, we aren’t *quite* ready to install the sink yet, but we’re close :) I’ll give you guys a follow-up post when that big day comes and let you know how the sink looks in its new home!!
